Where does time go?

For the last past months, time has not been my ally. Projects have stacked, my daytime workload has grown but days haven’t extended at all. Where does time go? While sitting in front of the glowing box, crafting virtual worlds and experiences, it feels as if everytime I pull  my head out from my work, hours have passed and I haven’t noticed at all.  Too bad the world is not a videogame.

If I lived in a brawler, I could simply knock over a trashcan and eat a steak while on my way to work and there would be no need to take time to prepare food. If I were in an rpg, I could just stack up on ressurection potions and ask a co-worker to use them on me if I ever get too sick and pass out from eating steaks I find in the trash. If I was in Animal Crossing, I could just simply sell some junk  I found while turning my lawn into swiss cheese using my shovel to a foolish racoon and actualy get rich, completely removing the need to work.  If I were in a classic 2D plateformer, all I would need would be a shiny floating block that I could punch in order to reveal a nice little hourglass that would allow me to get extra time. If I were in an adventure game, time would stop and wait for me to solve the puzzle or figure out what I should do next.

That would be so handy right now. So handy.

But videogames are what I create, not where my reality lies. So if you’ll excuse me, I gotta head back to work. :)
